Circular walk "The beaches of the west"

Skala Eressou - Chroussos - Tavari - Skala Eressou

The meeting point for our hike is the beach village of Skala Eressou in the west of the island of Lesvos. On sandy tracks and sheep trails we hike eastwards, always with beautiful views to the sea. We come to the green beach of Chroussos, an always green bay appearing like an oasis in the dry and desert-like environment. Chroussos is a wonderful, wide curving beach of dark sand and fine gravel. Here we stop for a quick dip in the sea, for those who want to, before we continue eastwards to Tavari. Tavari is the small beach settlement of Messotopos, just a fishing port with a few houses. In a region well known for good lamb dishes we enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the local tavernas. Then it is time to slowly hike back, taking the same way. We may stop for another swimming break in Chroussos.

Back in Skala Eressou we sit down in one of the stylish beach cafes overlooking the sea and enjoy a sundowner at the end of our hike.
